The Victims Advisory Group (VAG) was established by the U.S. Sentencing Commission to assist the commission in carrying out its statutory duties, provide the Commission its views on the Commission s activities as they relate to victims of crime, disseminate information to crime victims and victim advocacy organizations, and perform other functions as the Commission requests. We are pleased to appear before you to offer our comments as the Commission considers a range of issues relating to the proper response to persons convicted of creating and capturing the images of the sexual abuse or rape of children; exploiting those children through the dissemination of those images, whether for financial or other gain; or collecting those images for personal sexual gratification or to groom other victims.
