dc.description.abstractNew national data for 2016 show a mixed set of trends over the short term. Neglect continued to decline (down 1% from 2015). Sexual abuse was essentially unchanged. By contrast, physical abuse rose 5% and child maltreatment fatalities rose 8%.en_US
