The Office for Victims of Crime partnered with the National Institute of Justice to inform practitioners about lessons learned in sexual assault kit research projects. Multidisciplinary teams in Detroit and Houston have developed protocols for notifying victims in cases where the sexual assault kit had not previously been—but is now being—tested for DNA evidence. These teams worked to minimize re-traumatization through a victim-centered, trauma-informed approach.en_US
