dc.description The issue of sexual abuse of minors has occasionally become anathema in contemporary Greek reality. Some cases come to light causing horror and terror. The awareness and awakening the public would not be possible without the contribution of the media. To investigate the role of the media in such cases, we will study the psychological phenomenon of recall memories of sexual abuse in childhood and how aired by the media in countries of the English-speaking world (U.S., UK, Australia) since the 1980. We believe that this review will enable us to realize the benefits and disadvantages of journalistic view similar cases. The Media involved actively intervening in a social reality and fulfill a dual role of information and 'fun', thus covering a social need which initially followed and then gigantic. The topic of child sexual abuse has become often the subject of horror in contemporary Greek reality. Various cases that appear in the public spotlight cause indignation. Sensitizing and awaking the public would not have been possible without the decisive assistance of the Media. In order to examine the role that the Media play in such cases, we will examine the psychological phenomenon of the recollection of repressed memories of child sexual abuse and how it has been projected by the mass media in the Anglo-Saxon world (mainly the USA.and UK) from the 1980s decade onwards. I believe that this historical review will allow us to examine the advantages and disadvantages of journalistic coverage in such cases, whereby the media were actively involved and thus influenced social reality by fulfilling the double role of 'infotainment' and a social need which they initially followed and later fueled.
