Abstract

Description

Multidisciplinary teams and children's advocacy centers throughout the country have been working diligently for the past twenty years to establish 'child friendly' settings in which to interview children and developmentally disabled adults about witnessing and experiencing abuse and violence. This article examines potential components of a child-friendly setting, and considers the underlying principles for each element. To consider the appropriate elements for the setting of an interview room, this article will address three components: Before the interview, during the interview, and after the interview.
