Abstract
Description
The aim of this working paper is to synthesize a wealth of evidence from neuroscience, molecular biology, epigenetics, and a range of behavioral and social sciences to promote greater public understanding of this widespread threat to child well-being. Using science as our guide, we have delineated four types of diminished responsiveness and their consequences in order to provide a useful framework for developing more effective strategies to protect vulnerable children from this complex challenge.
