Abstract
This report presents the results of a four year study of 225
cases in which students were sexually abused by teachers or other professional
staff (Shakeshaft and Cohan). We have documented the types of
abuse that occurred and the response of districts. Based upon our interviews
with superintendents, school attorneys, parents, and teachers, we
have also made recommendations for both preventing this abuse and for
dealing with it when it happens.
