From November 2012 through January 2013, as a major component of the National Alliance of Children s Trust and Prevention Funds initiative on child neglect1 prevention, with funding from the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation, Alliance Senior Consultant Caren Kaplan, MSW conducted 22 Key Informant (KI) interviews in accordance with the methodology described in the Research Savvy Practitioner (see page 10). These 22 individuals with varied expertise, experiences and perspectives about child neglect and its prevention each voluntarily participated in individual hour-long telephone interviews. The overarching framework of the interview was anchored in the socio-ecological model and respondents were asked questions in which their responses addressed each level of this model - - child/individual; parents/family; neighborhood/community; and society.
