Abstract

By identifying and quantifying the extent of these costs and exploring the ways in which they ripple through our community, this report aims to: • Spark widespread discussion around the devastating long-term impact of child abuse on the San Francisco community • Shed light on the extent of risk factors for maltreatment in San Francisco and highlight the need to target high- risk groups and develop community and family protective factors • Articulate the significant and negative impact of child abuse on the community and provide a foundation for future research that will enhance our collective understanding of the extent and nature of child maltreatment costs
