Abstract

The arrest of a parent can have a significant and potentially long-term traumatic impact on children, including shock, immense fear, anxiety, and anger toward the arresting officers. The Safeguarding Children of Arrested Parents Model Policy was designed to help law-enforcement agencies develop policies and procedures that mitigate this potential trauma. This training video is intended to both introduce and demonstrate the core principles of the Model Policy to law enforcement organizations across the nation.
