Abstract
To illustrate CSE, the film presents a condensed version of a BBC
EastEnders’ storyline. At various points, the narrative pauses for Shona
McGarty, the actress who plays Whitney, to step out of role to comment on
her relationship with Rob, summarise the identified aspects of CSE at different
stages and outline Whitney’s choices, the decisions she makes and how she
becomes a victim. The film highlights the difficulty of Whitney’s daily life
choices given her relationship with him – and her dependence on him, which
he has created. From a learning perspective, these are strong discussion points
and a trainer might consider pausing the film at critical stages to encourage
discussion and reflection.
